Křídová, Nikola ; Šindlar, Jiljí (referee) ; Hrabec, Josef (advisor)
This diploma project deals with architectural study and functional use of the Uherčice castle grounds with regard to its character, location in the countryside and in the village, preservation of monuments and requirements of the inserted functions, as well as the creation of new opportunities for visitors and the reconnection to life of the inhabitants of the Uherčice village. And as a place of rest, education, employment and as a re-center of the area. A proposal of modification of the selected part of the castle and the park with the restoration of the French garden in its original place is a part of the project. The reconstruction of the former orangery and the new greenhouse building are proposed. Re-build greenhouse is attached with an apartment for the gardener. The second greenhouse complements one of the castle's axes and is designed for the world's largest water lily, Victoria Amazonica. In the selected part of the chateau, I mainly dealt with its use for cultural and social events that could take place here and the facilities that would be needed, including an apartment for short-term accommodation of visitors to these events. In addition, the entrance area and the operational facilities of the castle with a castellan apartment and accommodation for tourist guides are also solved.
Castle Zdounky - conservation and restoration in the area
Franková, Tereza ; Kolouch, Jiří (referee) ; Hrabec, Josef (advisor)
The aim of the present thesis is to carry out an architectural study for the reconstruction of the chateau complex Zdounky, located near Kroměříž in Litenčiče Downs. The chateau complex covers the area of ca. 9 hectares and consists of a four-wing chateau, a Baroque granary, a new farm building with an old orchard, and a large landscape park in the English style with a number of small-scale buildings such as a greenhouse, an ice house and other valuable and remarkable natural sites, for instance an old lime tree alley or a restored animal park. The proposal complies with the intention of the current owners, i.e. to use the complex as a centre for environmental education of the youth and to make it available to the general public with an interest in nature and ecology. Therefore, the main goal of the study has been to find an optimal urban-architectural solution in order to preserve the historic value of the buildings and at the same time allow the possibility of using them for their new purposes. The concept of the reconstruction is influence by the correspondence of the surrounding landscape, the place’s history, the historic value of the individual buildings and the morphology of the terrain. The whole complex is organized in order to give the impression of unity where all the functions are connected in a logical way. It was the division of the complex into public, semi-public and private zones that represented the main guideline for the present plan. The design of the reconstructed chateau includes the semi-public and private zones - it comprises both the educational centre with accommodation as well as the owners’ residence surrounded by a private garden. The Baroque granary is reconstructed and used as a museum. Additionally, a new orangery is added and its facilities used for a cider house (in the form of a small café) where local production commodities are sold. Both of these are open to the general public as well as the chateau park. Furthermore, the design includes a trail around the chateau. For the purposes of the present thesis, it was necessary to find and redraw the old plans, verify and document their true condition and measure the Baroque granary, whose documentation was completely missing.

Havlík, Darina ; Pospíšil, Zdeněk (referee) ; Boháč, Ivo (advisor)
Revitalization of the foreland of the Floral Garden in Kromeriz Conteption of design is based on existing original compositional axis of historical parts of the Floral Garden. Newly proposed buildings supply a curent composition system in its symetrical form by situating of entrances and by emplacement of atractive functions to expressively attractive positions of view. Designed visitors centre fully respects original limits of task, its location is determined by border of historically built-up area. It maximally frees a space for full reconstruction of the Orange garden. Proposed solution uses organical forms, soft shapes, mirroring of the architectural objects in water surfaces and other elements of common landscape gardening to enrichment of historical areal. Horizontally placed matter of the designed object of visitors centre allows fully end up the dominant historical objects. Tinier architectural scale suitably reacts to Genius Loci of Floral Garden. The new visitors centre disposes with all of needed spaces for long-term and short-term exhibitions, educational activities, bookshop, souvenirs shop and spaces for relaxation. Important is also the high adaptability of the proposed solutions. For the reconstructed object of aviary, there is offered attractive and not common alternative utilisation in form of papillarium.
Multigenerational Coexistence / Happy Living in a Castle
Habancová, Anežka ; Dvořák, Tomáš (referee) ; Mléčka, Jan (advisor)
Previously, the bulk of the population lived in rural areas. The whole family lived there together in the family house on the same property. Young helped the elderly and old to their offspring, with households with children, with the economy. With the advent of industrialization and mobilization, many young people moved into the cities, to work, to the newly constructed blocks of residential houses, which were rather less than they could live with a large extended family. Mutual cooperation was suddenly far away. The town has more people, more jobs and more older people, which the state took care of them - homes for the elderly - retirees concentration in one place, without daily contact with young, with family. Thanks to good quality of health care older people is increasing and this problem is must be solved. The country has still semi-detached houses and multigenerational houses, where the family lived with grandparents, but in the city is hard to find to buy or rent two apartments near each other. The main concept of my work is to create a semi-detached flats, flats with common vestibule, which connects one smaller and one larger apartment. Use the castle for this principle is more than appropriate - will be returned the housing for the family and each of generation finds in the castle grounds space for their activities or employment. This area still remains open to inhabitant of the city and offer them new possibilities for leisure (restaurants and an amphitheater).
